Uninstall issues

I tried to boot from my XP Pro disk in order to uninstall Vista, however I got a "not compatible" message. How can I go back to XP? I have tried everything I can think of. Please help. I have tried every posted suggestion I could find on the subject. Thanks

What are you doing to "uninstall" Vista from the XP Pro disk? The only way to really uninstall it is to format the drive as you can upgrade or repair Vista from the XP cd. ---------- Mark Dietz PROnetworks <http://www.pro-networks.org>

before going to XP setup, insert the Vista DVD and go to the boot folder, then run bootsect /nt52 ALL /force
I haven't actually tested this so if it works let us know :-)

After
you run that, booting back to Vista is unlikely to work..

I'm guessing you don't have a tape backup, a pc recovery? Or a rescue 3.5. Try playing w/options, to boot directly from disk, from within vista. I've found that in the run MSCONFIG menu, everything is almost identical to xp. Is xp still on any other partitions? I know, or used to know a free program that would allow you to delete the vista partition at the beginning, and allow you to choose to boot into xp, provided you still have it on another partition.
